Obsession Du Jour: Tribal Jewelry, Desert Accents, and Classic Stripes

Vintage Inspired Fashion, Obsession Du Jour

I will never tire of stripes and lace. They are wardrobe staples for me. What is new however is my new found love for tribal inspired jewelry and accessories. Usually I tend to favor florals, lace, pretty pastel colored baubles and rhinestones. But the past couple of weeks I've really been attracted to jewelry that's a bit more geometric and features stonework.

FASHION: 1.] House of Harlow earrings from Stylebop.com, 2.] A.L.C. striped linen tank from Browns Fashion, 3.] American Rah crochet vest from Mirabella.jp, 4.] Pocahontas Clutch/Bag from Calypso St. Barth, 5.] Paperbag maxi skirt from River Island, 6.] Faux succulents (set of 3) from Homedecorators.com, 7.] 3.1 Phillip Lim criss cross platform sandal from Lagarconne

I've also been highly considering starting a little succulent garden. Very inspired by these succulents in their recycled containers.

Obsession Du Jour: Pumpkin, Juniper, & Fruit Tarts

obsessiondujour-4

Viewing the images of these fruit tarts makes me crave one like crazy right now. Perhaps I'll pop over to La Brea Bakery and grab a cherry tart (they have apple ones too and both are UH-MAZE-ING!)

I'm also obsessing over satchels (I have a few coming up soon in the shop, so stay tuned for those updates!), velvet or velour pumps (thank goodness it's not rainy in Los Angeles), and faux furs (which I lovingly refer to "furry furries" which amuses my stepdaughter).

What are you obsessing over?

Obsession Du Jour: Parisien Stripes, Wildflower Bunches, & Royal Apothic Eau De Parfum

obsessiondujour-3

The past couple of weeks I can say without shame I have purchased 4 striped shirts. All with black (or dark navy nearly black) stripes in varying widths.

I stopped by Anthropologie a few days ago and sampled the new fragrance they are carrying, Royal Apothic Eau De Parfum - "Kensington Gardens" - OH MY GOODNESS, so obsessed! I need this on my new vanity TOMORROW!

And speaking of vanities, I've also been purchasing wildflower bunches from Trader Joes and placing little vases around the house full of these field blossoms. I love wildflowers for Summer and Fall, don't you?

Edit: The boots are from Coggles.com. Victorian style leather washed boots. ♥

Obsession Du Jour: Denim Skirts, Floral Maxi Dresses, + 70's Inspired Clogs

obsessiondujour-2

I've really been inspired by the 1970s lately, not in the overly hippie/bohemian sort of way (I went through that phase a few years ago), but in the sophisticated clean lines of cotton camisoles, dark denim a-line skirts, and sleek floral print maxi dresses. I will be posting one of my favorite 1970's vintage inspired editorials soon which best explains my current fashion state of mind.

Obsession Du Jour: Square Cropped Tops, Lace Up Boots, Pleated Bottoms, & Deers

obsessiondujour-1

Very obsessed with cropped tops, especialy more blouson/square shaped blouses with more geometric details. Paired with slim fit trousers with pleat details, tucked in or out. So chic!

I'm also obsessing over lace up boots. At the flea market over the weekend I spotted a few I liked, one I LOVED and very stupidly decided to quench my thirst first BEFORE buying the boots, and upon my return... the lovely boots were gone!

And of course, in the same theme as my last Obsession du Jour with all things nature inspired, I am keen on finding deer antlers to display above my desk, particularly one mounted on a plaque and hopefully one that looks a bit fake as I really don't want to be reminded a living creature was killed and its remains now hang as decor on my walls. Again, found a perfect set at the flea market, however there was just a few remnants of fur on them and it really sickened me. Perhaps I'll go the alternate route and get the cardboard antlers... I'd also like a few deer figurines, spotted ones. Maybe to display on my dresser, trotting off towards my stack of fairy tale books...

Obsession Du Jour: Dotted Blouses, Lace Tanks, & Phillip Lim Trousers

It may not come to a surprise that we love neutrals which is quite apparent in the non vintage clothing we wish our little hearts out for including these elastic waisted 3.1 Phillip Lim trousers, Poly/Cotton too and at nearly $700 JEEZ.

On a side note, we're currently intrigued by specimen displays, particularly those of plant life and sea life. After a visit to our favorite antique shop in Santa Monica, we noticed a pluthera of glass domes with honeycombs, corals, starfish, ferns, moss... similar to terrariums, but with non-living items inside.

Wildflowers are a huge inspiration for us right now too... hmm...
